The BD Coaching Mission

Hi, I am Gary Williams, Founder of Questas and BD Coaching Hub. 

With over 17 years experience in business development training and coaching for technical and professional people as Questas, it now feels the right time to launch BD Coaching Hub and bring coaching to a wider audience.

My goal? To give individuals and businesses the opportunity to unlock their potential and benefit from the tailored one to one support that coaching brings. Coaching is a natural next step, building on the skills learnt in training and helping to empower people to make greater contributions and find confidence in both the workplace and in their everyday life.

Gary is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management and a graduate of the Academy of Executive Coaching's Practitioner Programme.

My light bulb moment

Before founding Questas, I ran numerous sales teams and realised that selling was already changing to become more ‘consultative’ and ‘value-driven’. I also discovered that my real passion was to develop the skills of others.


Having worked with professional and technical people in customer facing roles I knew that many would say they were ‘unnatural salespeople’ but that their knowledge and advisory capacity meant they could make a real contribution to winning work and developing strong client relationships.


They just needed to be given the opportunity to explore how best they can do this alongside being given the tools to do so.

Finding the right approach

Whether this is achieved through training or coaching, or ideally a combination of both, what I knew to be fundamental to their success is that the person being coached needed to buy in to the process. This is when I designed my tailored solution; acknowledging the clients’ technical mindset, their challenge as an unnatural salesperson and the need for this to be delivered by an experienced professional who understands their world.


I set up Questas 10 years ago to support those ‘unnatural salespeople’. We offer tailored solutions to help clients to grow by developing their peoples’ skills and behaviours through training. I am very pleased to say that a decade on, we continue to work with some wonderful organisations and have trained thousands of non-salespeople to become much better at managing client relationships, winning work, leading teams…all the things that contribute to growth. 

Why BD Coaching?

When COVID-19 hit in early 2020 we re-designed our Questas classroom-based training to make it as engaging when delivered online. During this time we have also seen the demand for coaching grow for those who had developed skills through training and now want to build on that investment and really grow in confidence and ability to try new approaches while ‘on the job’ and ultimately help to develop client relationships and win more of the right kind of work!
